Companies are constantly updating their performance. Investors start talking, or “whispering,” about how the company is currently doing, and buying or selling the company’s stock accordingly. This happens long before analysts update their official expectations, and long before the companies report their actual earnings. If you’ve ever been confused by why a stock goes up when they “missed” earning expectations, or why a stock goes down when they’ve “beat” expectations, it is because those expectations are out of date. Both the current “whisper number” and the stock price has moved based on what’s happening now, not estimates made weeks or months ago.

EarningsWhispers is a great source for individual investors to get the “whisper number,” the most important expectations on earnings that usually exist only in the email correspondence of fund managers and analysts on Wall Street.

EarningsWhispers covers all things earnings, including basics such as earnings news and latest earnings guidance.

We also provide:

  • A more conservative, long-term portfolio that has outperformed 95% of all financial publications followed by Hulbert Interactive and has more than tripled the overall market.
  • A pattern daytrading or short-term strategy that a joint study by the universities of Michigan, Indiana, and Purdue found yields “significant” returns - with approximately 1,500 trades per year.
  • Weekly commentary and discussion about the timing and direction of the overall market based on expectations from top-down and technical analysts followed by EarningsWhispers.
  • 100s of comments each quarter from analysts regarding expectations of earnings surprises.
  • Alerts and notes regarding current or upcoming trades, unusual option activity, and more.
  • An analysis of each day’s option prices to determine the expected stock movement that is currently being priced into the market so you know how much a stock is likely going to move on the news.
  • The largest source of earnings guidance announcements available on the Internet – including historic data with candle-stick charts for your review and research.
  • Earnings estimates that a Bloomberg News study found to be the most accurate available. “

I think EarningsWhisper.com will be the most useful overall site for the next few weeks as we get through the barrage of earnings. Knowing the whisper number might be more important as ever this time around as estimates have gone all over the place as analysts are confused about the economy and how the companies are actually doing.
